10 Potential Plot Twists That Could Ruin Upcoming Video Games

4. The Entire Game Is A Metaphor For Konami - Death Stranding

The Twist: Hideo Kojima's much-anticipated new game will serve as a not-so-subtle metaphor for his acrimonious split from publisher Konami following the difficult production of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Why It Could Ruin The Game: Because Kojima's desire to throw shade at Konami could end up taking precedent over his desire to make an entertaining successor to Metal Gear Solid.

Plus, with Kojima pretty much being given carte blanche to do whatever he wants with this game, it's entirely possible he could take things too far and craft a story that's an eye-rollingly on-the-nose critique of big business attempting to stifle creativity.

How Likely Is It?: It remains to be seen exactly how Death Stranding's plot can be linked to Kojima's departure from Konami, but it'd be a huge surprise if there weren't at least some parallels. This could definitely go in either direction, but one thing's for sure: even if the story sucks, the gameplay will almost certainly deliver the goods. 5/10
