10 Rage Quit Moments That Made Us Leave Video Games Forever

2. Protecting Natalya - Goldeneye

GoldenEye Natalya
Rare

It's not exactly cutting-edge video game commentary to rag on escort missions. There's a reason why this kind of quest has been all but scrubbed from the modern gaming landscape; it's so difficult to get right without making players think they're babysitting characters who think putting their face in front of an enemy's gun barrel is the best way to keep out of danger.

Still, it wouldn't be right to have a list about the biggest rage quits in gaming without mentioning Natalya from Goldeneye. In the Control Room mission you're tasked with protecting the Russian programmer, as the two of you make your way through a bunch of different rooms in order to stop the incoming Goldeneye strike on London.

Getting her from point A to point B is an absolute nightmare in the first place, but keeping her alive is virtually impossible when you're forced to hunker down while she's fiddling with the terminals. With enemies pouring in from all sides and Natalya in the centre of the crossfire, even the best guides aren't enough to see you through this level without giving up at least once.
