10 Rage Quit Moments That Made Us Leave Video Games Forever

1. Bed Of Chaos - Dark Souls

Dark Souls Bed Of Chaos
From Software

As mentioned previously, Dark Souls' difficulty is always justified because of how "fair" it is. But the Bed of Chaos is not fair. The Bed of Chaos does not care about "rules" or "reliable attack patterns". The Bed of Chaos will literally destroy the floor you're standing on and send you straight to Hell.

Unlike the other bosses in the first game, it doesn't really take skill or cunning to take this monster out, but purely luck. Once you've completed the straightforward first stage, the tiles on the floor will disappear, and you're forced to move around to the creature's side to attack its remaining weak spots. The only problem is it'll hit you with a sweeping attack that can knock you down into the void with no chance of avoiding it.

And that would be fine, it's not like the game can't have a boss based more on luck than skill, but Souls' gameplay loop makes instantly jumping back into a fight like this impossible. You always have to walk to the staging area from a bonfire which, in this case, takes minutes, just to have another crack at it. When you kill other bosses there's a sense of satisfaction, but when you vanquish the Bed of Chaos, there's just a sigh of relief and an an exasperated "thank f**k for that".
