10 Rage Quit Moments That Made Us Leave Video Games Forever
4. The Military Camp - Hotline Miami 2
Hotline Miami is a difficult game, but it tries its best to keep the frustrating factor to a minimum. Sure, you die in one hit, but it only takes a second to jump back into the action, so the next attempt is always instant. It might be annoying to get so close to clinching an area only to be hit by one dude you didn't see, but you have the satisfaction of being able to jump right back into the fray, even more determined than before.
However, the push and pull between challenge and cheap game design in Hotline Miami isn't always perfect. You're supposed to die to figure out which enemies are where, until you've solved the "puzzle" of each room.
One mission in the second game doesn't ever really afford you that same luxury, though. Stronghold has you moving through a military camp in the same vein as pretty much every other level, but this time a huge chunk of the enemies have tough-to-dodge hitscan machine guns.
There's still time to get out the way, but it's far more demanding than other levels simply because of how many soldiers litter the screen, and how many of them are carrying M16s. It's always annoying to get blasted by someone off-screen, but that's cranked up to 11 here.
