9. The Explosive Flamer - Fallout 76

From a weapon that’s tricky to obtain because the guys who drop it were made extinct, to a weapon that was itself made extinct, we’ve got the Explosive Flamer from Fallout 76.

Yeah, a rare weapon from that one Fallout game you didn’t play, well let’s talk about it anyway.

This weapon is now technically Legacy because Bethesda removed it from the game and deemed it “illegal” alongside their decision to remove explosive attachments from legendary energy or plasma weapons. Because this is an online game, Bethesda are cracking down hard on hacked and modded weapons, even though the perks were totally legal when they initially dropped. In its heyday, the Explosive Flamer was particularly desirable for its speed, fuel capacity, stopping power, range, and silent assault.

While a lot of players decided it was overpowered and broken, this just naturally made it all the more desirable.

Curiously, this created a Black Market on the side where players were willing to part with real world money to get their hands on one, especially when Bethesda blacklisted them and just nerfed the non-hacked versions into shadows of their former explodey selves.
