10 Reasons 2025 Is Make Or Break For Triple-A Games
1. The Generative AI Takeover

Whether we like it or not, generative AI is likely going to play a major role in the future of video games, and especially in the AAA sphere.
While many developers have publicly decried using AI tools and assets in their pipelines, mammoth publishers such as Activision, EA, and Capcom have all already used or plan to use generative AI tech to streamline development and cut costs.
It may be one answer to stemming the increasing cost of new AAA games, but what is the trade-off? Artists and programmers are put out of work and soulless content is generated by an algorithm which may or may not be scraping the Internet for "inspiration."
Publishers clearly see AI as a silver bullet for more easily creating "ambitious" games at a much lower price tag, and yet the artistry of the medium - especially in the AAA space where AI is most likely to be used - may end up suffering catastrophically.
