10 Reasons To Be Excited About Telltale's Game Of Thrones Video Game

3. Political Intrigue

One of the higher brow aspects that must be included in a Game of Thrones title is political intrigue. The main draw of the narrative is that it's essentially a political thriller set in a fantasy world. This unique spin on the genre allows for a lot more depth to be put into the hierarchy that controls the land and the machinations of those that serve them. Whether it's the King's Hand or the owner of a brothel, everyone's playing the game in Westeros. The politics of the land are mainly concerned with the various houses such as the Starks, Lannisters and Baratheons. A choice of who to swear allegiance to would certainly take some consideration. Of course, most would flock to the Stark family as they're the token 'good guys' of the story, but I think when shown the various strong points of each house and what benefits supporting them would give you, it would end up as a hard decision. It's often said in the novels that Petyr Baelish is the most dangerous man in the kingdom, yet the power he wields is through manipulation, information and wealth, not his lineage. He doesn't necessarily need large armies of bannermen to acquire power and this should be a factor in the game - the importance of political acumen and choosing your words carefully.
