10 Reasons Games Are Way Better Than Films

9. Graphical Capability

lastofus_screenshot Movies have become so graphically engrossing over the years it is now difficult to not be amazed at what can now be put to film. Films such as Avatar and Star Trek in particular are beacons to what can now be designed and demonstrated to the paying audience. But, doesn't there always come a point in a live-action film when they have to transition from real life into computer animation, and it often appears quite unnatural and can occasionally break with the flow of the sequence. With video gaming, the characters have been constructed and moulded to be able to perform any task that has been set for the progression of the story, no matter how ludicrous and unfathomable it may be. Now, I'm not simply saying that video games are better because they have to use computer animated characters and films often have to employ human actors. But, it must be said that whilst in the past films were the only medium with both the technology and budget to produce stunning graphical spectacles for the audience, now it is the capability of video games as well, and they entered this territory with incredible swagger and poise. The fact is that whilst films are of course becoming more visually appealing, video games are getting so great that less than five years into the future the current selection of games will look completely old-fashioned. Also, a film only has to look good for the space that is in front of the lens. The director and location managers guide the shot to give the best possible outcome, and then designers and editors are able to remaster these initial shots to give them an in greater quality. However, due to the exploratory nature of certain open world games such as GTA IV or The Last of Us, game designers have to work painstakingly to make ever expanding areas both beautiful and interactive, adding a whole new layer to the realism that you, as the character in the game, get to experience.Every person's experience will be different, and the fact that designers can create for such varied circumstances is a credit to their fantastic skills.
