10 Reasons Infamous: Second Son Will Be The PS4's First Essential Title

8. Flame-Based Superpowers

It may feel weird at first not having access to any of the trademark electricity based powers, but Sucker Punch have found an interesting replacement with smoke-based powers. Outside of being an interesting concept for a superpower, it also feels unique and refreshing; something that really hasn't been explored before in great detail. If you are unfamiliar with how the smoke based powers work, Delsin Rowe can - at will -decompose into a plume of smoke or manipulate it in any way he sees fit. If there is a building with a chimney of sorts, you can morph straight into the grating and skyrocket yourself up all the way to the roof. Not only does that just sound awesome, but it's a hell of a lot faster than physically climbing there yourself. These new traversal mechanics integrated into the smoke also solve one of the bigger dilemmas that have always plagued the Infamous franchise; their free-climbing mechanics have never felt up to snuff or as polished as the likes of Assassin's Creed, Crackdown, or the game that really blew everyone away with fluid traversal; Saints Row 4. In Infamous you would occasionally get stuck trying to ascend buildings that necessarily weren€™t straight, which was obviously frustrating. To summarise, navigating Seattle by shifting in and out of a puff of smoke is going to be a blast and unlike anything we've ever seen before. Climbing buildings is old news and may as well be synonymous with taking the stairs.
