10 Reasons Resident Evil 7 Is PSVR's Killer App

8. The Sound Design Is Incredible

Resident Evil 7
Capcom

Sound design can make or break a game in VR, but RE7 absolutely nails it. The original soundtrack is actually rather subdued throughout, with Capcom smartly allowing players to stew in their own silence and, with PSVR's superb binaural sound set-up (which maps the ambiance of sound in relation to your head movement), never quite being sure where exactly that door creak or errant footstep is coming from.

As so many classic horror movies have proven, nothing is more terrifying than the human imagination, and RE7 plays on that superbly, with small environmental noises, often harmless ones, striking fear deep into the heart of the player in VR.

It features by far the best sound design of any game currently available for PSVR.
