2. The Monsters
When it comes to monsters, Silent Hill simply knocks it out of the park. Resident Evil's menagerie of mutants and zombies has given us some great moments. But there's very little that's truly disturbing in the same way as some of Silent Hill's creatures. Nothing kicks your fight or flight instinct into overdrive quite like the sight of a warped, knife wielding child sprinting at you in a darkened alley. Plus, they often have key symbolic importance, representing facets of the protagonist's own fears or weaknesses, giving a personal edge to the horrors that you're facing.
