10 Reasons Sony Won E3 2014

With the console wars now back on raging form and exclusives dropping left, right and centre - who do you think won E3?

In so many ways, this year's E3 conference marks a make or break moment for Sony. Last year they managed to walk away with their heads held high, after the well-received announcement of the PS4. So, while last year's Sony conference might have been all about next-gen hardware, this year's had to be about next-gen games.

They delivered the goods. Not only did they show off a few exclusives - a couple of which were unexpected announcements - they also managed to bring some of the highly anticipated multi-platform titles over to their show. Add to that a healthy dose of indie titles and you've got yourself a winning formula.

Of course with this being the next-gen, games were only a small part of Sony's press conference. Alongside the numerous beta announcements and DLC exclusives, Sony was keen to introduce other forms of content to its customers, which included the announcement of an integrated YouTube app and further talk of the intriguing PlayStation Now streaming service.

Sure there were disappointments €“ few gamers would have cared about the announcement of the Powers television series and The Last Guardian was nowhere to be seen €“ but Sony still managed to deliver an array of titles that catered to fans of every genre.

Crucially though, Sony gave as much of the spotlight to its indie titles as it did to franchises like Metal Gear Solid and Uncharted, and that's essentially why their conference was such a success.
