10 Reasons Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Soundtrack Was More Influential Than The Beatles
7. These Songs Create Nostalgic Memories Of A Happier Time
When you listen to the sweet sounds of the THPS soundtrack, you’re nostalgically transported back to a happy, simpler time. Suddenly it’s the 90s, or the 00s. You’re spending your free time with your friends, you wear a cool chain to school, you’ve got far too much gel in your hair and you’re learning how to land your first fabled kickflip.
This was a time when you spent your summer days hanging out at the skatepark. You rode the ramps all day, then sat and drank Buckfast on them come nightfall. Your winters were spent huddled around a PlayStation, blasting Rancid’s …And Out Come The Wolves on repeat and endlessly trying to top each other’s combos on your favourite THPS entries.
That one friend who used nothing but manual combos is still a dick to this day.
Now, where do you go when you listen to The Beatles? That’s right- the 60s. Who on earth wants to remember them? They didn’t have skateparks OR PlayStation. If you weren’t hallucinating in the desert with the Manson Family, you were probably out playing stick-ball and being a racist. These were dark times and, much like the works of The Beatles, they are best forgotten.
