10 Reasons It Totally Sucked To Be A Gamer In 2013

7. New Generation/Pre E3 Press Conferences

Since the impending new generation was looming on the horizon, gamers were treated to waves upon suffocating waves of press conferences, hype videos and what not. While I understand that it's a logical way for studios to display their consoles to the gaming community, the conferences themselves are always terrible. Both Microsoft and Sony's attempts at hyping their new consoles felt as sticky and awkward as every video game conference does. They were filled with uncomfortable stuttering, technical issues €“ which is a nit-pick I admit €“ and the overuse of words like innovation and revolutionary. Two words that mean so damn little to me €“ in the context of gaming €“ because companies use them like the English Language is going out of fashion. The problem with this year's conferences was that the companies couldn't give any real information away. So, it felt awkward to watch men try and fill up time without letting the cat out of the bag. Sony gave very little information €“ which they were holding onto until E3 €“ and Microsoft wouldn't shut up about seamless switching between media, totally forgetting the Xbox One is a games console.
