1. Borderlands 2
Despite all the other great things about this game, the best reason to be playing Borderlands right now is Borderlands 2. I remember coming back try and play the original Assassin's Creed shortly after completing Brotherhood. It was awful; the controls felt archaic, the mechanics unintuitive. In reality, in the right context, the original Assassin's Creed was an incredibly well-developed and influential game. It's just that the subsequent releases in the franchise so excellently improved upon the original that it was almost impossible to go back. Borderlands 2 comes out in less than a week and, if you're anything like me, you're going to be looking forward to jumping into a brand new Pandora. I, for one, will be devoting a fair amount of playtime to Borderlands over the next few days, giving it a final goodbye, a last hurrah and celebration for one of the most entertaining shooters of the last few years before it's unceremoniously replaced by the next best model. It's what it deserves. Borderlands 2 is released 21st September.
