10 Reasons Why Half Life 2 Is Still A Masterpiece

1. The Gravity Gun

It€™s impossible to talk about Half Life 2 without mentioning the awesome gravity gun, which has become one of gaming€™s most influential and groundbreaking weapons. Also known by its less snappy name of €œZero-Point Energy Field Manipulator€ the Gravity Gun was designed for heavy lifting and safe control of hazardous materials, but like all powerful tools, it€™s also a rather nifty piece of deadly weaponry if you ignore health and safety. With the gravity gun you can pick up numerous objects within the environment to propel at your enemies, ranging from the obvious (barrels, gas tanks, blades) to the less obvious (toilets, cactuses and bins). The gravity gun also serves other purposes however, as you can use it to create cover from enemy fire, solve complex puzzles and create new routes by building ramps and walkways. Using the gravity gun for the first time back in 2004 was a pivotal moment in gaming history for many and its influence can still be felt today. Games like Dead Space, Bioshock, Second Sight and countless others have all provided their own spin on the Gravity Gun. _________________ Half Life 2 is available on PC and Steam or as part of The Orange Box on Xbox and PS3.
