9. New Mechanics are Still Being Worked On
Something that's always a good sign is when a game gets solid post-release support. Project Zomboid is still technically in early access, but has been vastly improved upon since its initial launch, so much so that early builds look almost unrecognizable compared to today.
While Zomboid is already a pretty complete package after all this time, there’s more still coming. The Indie Stone recently released an update for their plans for 2022 and beyond, detailing their plans for extra items to their crafting system and - way bigger - human NPC characters.
How these NPCs will be implemented and what they will do is still not confirmed, but they have floated the idea of being able to team up with survivors, hunting animals, and even introducing a story mode! If past updates are anything to go by, the future is looking bright for the title. Well, as bright as zombies trying to kill you can look.
