10 Reasons Xbox Series X Has ALREADY Won The Next Generation War Over PS5

5. Bethesda Buyout

It's the second largest acquisition in gaming history at an eye-watering $7.5 billion dollars, so it should be no surprise to see the Bethesda buyout on this list.

There are numerous implications of this deal for the industry as a whole and the next generation specifically, but a few major ones stand out. First and foremost, before talk of exclusives, there's some basic economics to consider: even if every game from every studio the deal purchased was available on both Xbox and Playstation, Microsoft still profits.

Then comes the Game Pass opportunities about to come to Xbox, with titles from Id Software, Arkane, and Bethesda Game Studios themselves now readily available to bolster the Game Pass roster. And back catalogue additions are just one possibility, with new releases potentially being available on Game Pass as well, as Microsoft have been keen to do.

The final consideration is the most speculative, which is of course the possibility of exclusive titles from these studios. Whether or not such heavyweights as Elder Scrolls or Fallout would ever become completely exclusive seems doubtful, but timed exclusivities, spin off titles, and new IPs as well as exclusive offers and content seems all but a certainty at this point.
