10 Reasons Zelda: Skyward Sword Is WAY Better Than You Remember

1. Motion Controls Work Just Fine

Motion Controls were the butt of the internet's joke for a long time, only going away because they became so integrated at some point that people just accepted them. But boy was it hard to be a game built on them as a cornerstone function back in the early 2010's.

The motion controls in Skyward Sword work just fine. Sure a movement doesn't register correctly if you're swinging like a crazy person in every direction or just moving in desperate rapidity because you've just been surrounded by three lizalfos on your last couple of hearts and it's time to PANIC! But if you stay calm, clearly move in the direction you wish to go, and most importantly, LISTEN to what the game is telling you, you should manage just fine.

The whip and the beetle drone are particularly good examples of the motion controls being implemented well, and as we went over previously, using the sword is a lot easier than some folks would lead you to believe.

Skyward Sword isn't perfect, some of the boss fights are the actual spawn of satan, annoying escort missions immediately cost you points with me - I don't care how fun the dungeon I get out of it is - and several plot elements could have been improved.

But if you look back on this game after a decade since it came out, I think you'll find that this supposed black sheep that drove a wedge in the Zelda fandom itself had a lot more merit to it than you gave it credit for.
