Despite being released on both the Wii U and Nintendo Switch at launch, Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the title that truly cemented the Nintendo Switch as a viable console. The game plays like a master class in open-world development, and it has an incredibly high replay value.

Of course, players don't want to keep playing the game over and over again once they've done it a couple of times; sooner or later, they're going to want a sequel. Nintendo is answering that desire with Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, and from what little the company has released, it's likely it's going to deliver another hit.

So far, Nintendo has only released a teaser trailer, but there is some info out there, which indicates it should be released sometime in late 2020. That being said, Zelda titles are notorious for being delayed, so it may not drop until 2021 if it follows the same path as previous games in the franchise.

The game began, at least in concept, as DLC for BotW, but as development continued, it evolved into a standalone sequel. Expect the game to have a darker tone than games like Majora's Mask, and the world of Hyrule will likely be even larger than it was in the first game.
