10 Recent Video Games That Totally Insulted Players
3. Being A Glorified Scam - The Day Before
Perhaps no game this past year invoked more anger or frustration than The Day Before, the multiplayer extraction shooter from developer Fntastic, which had successfully marketed itself to millions of players in the years since its reveal, even as many questioned whether it was, in fact, a game at all.
Well, The Day Before finally came out this past December, and yes, in an objective and literal sense it is - or rather, was - indeed a game. Just not a very good one.
Upon launch, it was widely panned by critics and players alike for most every aspect of its production, from the empty open world to the overwhelming technical issues, generic gameplay, and lack of MMO elements which Fntastic had initially promised.
The player count on Steam fell off a cliff in record time, and within just four days of The Day Before's release, it had been pulled from sale, with refunds being offered to all players.
The game's servers remained online until late January, when it was truly killed off once and for all.
While it was certainly a foreseeable outcome for a game many were rightly skeptical of, frustration with Fntastic for misleading players and delivering such a god-awful end product was nevertheless understandable.
