Eugene Wegner is an NPC that doesn't show up in a mission but has a dark secret that can be uncovered if the player chooses to investigate. While wandering around the ranch the farmhands will gossip about Eugene's daughter Miriam, who at first can't be found anywhere on the ranch.

However, if the player takes the time to look at Eugene's second-story window late at night, they will find Miriam staring creepily back at them. After more time spent investigating the player will be able to uncover a tale of star-crossed lovers and murder.

It turns out that poor Miriam fell in love with one of her father's ranch hands. When Eugene found out, he killed the boy in a shooting "accident" and locked his daughter inside his home so she couldn't tell anyone.

There is no way to rescue Miriam even if the player fully uncovers the truth. Even simply killing Eugene doesn't seem to be able to release Miriam from her horrifying prison. So sadly she is forever trapped in her house all alone with a broken heart.
