The Star Wars franchise has been adapted into many great video games but few have been quite as eye-catching as one particular cancelled project.

Star Wars 1313 would see players take control of the badass bounty hunter Boba Fett as he explored the underworld of Coruscent’s Level 1313. Created in partnership with Industrial Light and Magic and with direct involvement from George Lucas, it was not just an exciting new narrative story for Star Wars but an exciting new single player experience period.

The game’s first trailer and gameplay tease were the topic of much delight in the Star Wars fandom… and then the source of much heartbreak.

In 2013, Disney’s acquisition of the franchise put 1313 on indefinite hiatus. Soon after, LucasArts as a developer was essentially gutted of employees - pretty much spelling out the end for the title in its infancy.

Aside from the likes of the microtransaction disaster Battlefront II, it seemed Disney was not all that bothered by Star Wars video games. Whilst the last five years has seen a resurgence with Jedi: Fallen Order and a few ports, 1313’s fate was sealed long ago.

New gameplay footage from the era actually found its way online this year, just to tease fans further, that this is a story that met a sad end a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away).
