Many gamers wrote off The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker before it was released, purely because of the cel-shaded art style. But as they say, hindsight is always 20/20. Due to its vibrant visuals, luscious soundtrack, and focus on exploration, Wind Waker is regarded as one of the strongest instalments in an already stellar franchise. Many gamers regard Wind Waker as as a masterpiece.

Well...it would be a masterpiece if it wasn't for all that frickin' sailing. Cruising across the sea is enjoyable, but it gets repetitive after 20 hours.

Fortunately, the HD remake for Wii U added a sail, allowing Link's ship to zip from shore to shore much faster. The remake improved on other factors, including better item management, improved sound quality, and Amiibo support which unlocks challenges. Although the cel-shading was heavily criticised upon Wind Waker's launch, it looks glorious in HD. Every object and facial feature is so sharp, players will never believe the graphics suffered such scrutiny.

And considering the lengthy Triforce quest has been drastically shorted, it genuinely feels like Wind Waker HD has ironed out all the wrinkles.
