10 Remakes That Made Great Video Games PERFECT

Demon's Souls has earned its place in gaming history, since it kicked off the Soulslike sub-genre. But while looking back, this dark fantasy feels like a prototype for the superior follow-up, Dark Souls. Even though this FromSoftware title is magnificent, its flaws are... there. And since Hidetaka Miyazaki's work has advanced leaps and bounds over the years, it felt like Demon's Souls was in desperate need of renovation.

That's why it was a pleasant surprise when Bluepoint Games remade Demon's Souls as a PS5 launch title. Although the original's mechanics weren't always precise, this version has no issue, thanks to the DualSense controller. The player has absolute control while performing parries, blocks, and attacks, due to the haptic feedback feature. Also, rather than locking the player's rolling capabilities to just four directions, they can now tumble anywhere. It seems like a minor tweak, but it makes a massive difference while cornered by a brutal boss.

Even though there are many other improvements, the loading times deserve special mention. In the original, the player had to gawk at the loading screen forever every time they died (which happened a lot.)

Luckily, the waiting in the PS5 version has been cut from minutes to seconds, allowing the player to jump right back into the action every time they receive a Game Over (which, as has been mentioned, happens a lot).
