10 Retro Christmas Video Games To Fill Your Stocking

6. Batman Returns

Batman is not a character whose look and feel you would traditionally place at Christmas time. Thanks to Tim Burton however, and his ability to marry a gothic aesthetic with snowy charm, we get that in Batman Returns.

There are a number of different versions of the Batman Returns game. For the SEGA consoles (Mega Drive, CD, Master System) the games were distinctly platformers that nailed the grubby colour palette of a crime ridden Gotham. However, the most colourful and fun to play version landed on the Super Nintendo. No surprise there really.

The SNES iteration was a side-scrolling beat 'em up in the same vein as Final Fight. Ever wanted to take control of the caped crusader and save Gotham and Christmas by punching one clown at a time? Then this retro classic is for you. Graphically superior, and much more entertaining to play, Batman Returns for the SNES is the alternative Christmas game to play this jolly season.
