10 Richest Video Gamers In The World Today

Not jealous. Not jealous at all.

ESPORTMAN MONEY
Valve

If you're a gamer and you haven't heard of Ninja, the likelihood is that your internet has been broken for quite some time. He's as famous for being rich as he is for being a skilled Fortnite player and has been a mainstay in popular culture for a while now, gaining a celebrity status as renowned as the YouTube giant PewDiePie. Unlike PewDiePie though, Ninja, and the following entries on this list, have made their money primarily from video games through performance.

Over the past decade, professional gaming has been growing and growing, so much so that you can now gain scholarships in universities for being talented, and take home millions in prize money from competitions. As a booming industry, the skilled or entrepreneurial among us have used gaming as a way of not just making a living, but making whopping amounts of money that even lottery winners would be envious of.

Whether it's YouTube, Twitch as "gaming personalities", or your skill at performing at a professional level, there is a killing to be made in gaming nowadays, with DOTA 2 proving the king of making the talented among us wealthier than we could ever imagine.

10. Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf

Net worth: $3 million

Bugha shot to stardom in July 2019 when he won the 2019 Fortnite World Cup, taking home the groundbreaking $3 million prize.

Fortnite has proved to be one of the biggest gaming sensations of all time, entering popular culture in such a profound way that it feels like online games will soon be categorised as ‘BF’ and AF’ when marking their date. Dominating our news feeds, gaming platforms and even finding a footing in mainstream media, it was no surprise when Fortnite announced their own world cup, and in 2019 it was a bigger deal than ever, with the winner taking home $3 million.

Before winning this competition, Bugha, respected among his Fortnite contemporaries, was still doing well for someone still not old enough to leave school, earning roughly $25,000 in all competitions.

After taking home the trophy, he gained respect from his competition and media outlets, as he announced he will, aside from a new desk, buy nothing and invest the rest. Smart decision Bugha. Smart decision.
