10 Ridiculous Story Decisions That Ruined Great Video Games

4. Jill Goes To The Dark Side - Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5 We learn early on in Resident Evil 5 that series mainstay Jill Valentine has apparently been killed while saving Chris Redfield from an attack by Wesker. However, during the game, we learn that, of course, she's still alive, a point the game labours as a shocking twist despite the fact it was made blatantly obvious by the game's trailers. Jill, it turns out, is actually under the control of Wesker, who has attached a scarab-like object to her chest that places her under his command. The problem with this story departure is that we all know where it's going; Chris and co. are going to get a hold of Jill and eventually free her from Wesker's thrall, which is exactly what happens. Capcom so clearly wants us to be shocked and amazed by it, but it's the most predictable thing in the whole game, and doesn't really add much. It's silly, goofy, and just bogs things down given that we're one step ahead of it the whole time.
