10 Ridiculous Things We Just Had To Go With In Bioshock

9. Big Daddies

Once men who had been experimented on repeatedly with lord knows what, before being chucked into crazy big diving suits and armed with drills and heavy weaponry, the Big Daddy clan who wander the halls of Rapture are pretty out there. Seemingly mindless drones that are overly protective of the Little Sisters, the Big Daddies will go absolutely mental if anyone tries to get anywhere near a Little Sister and will protect them to the death. In official lore, the Big Daddy is a person whose organs and skin have been transplanted directly into a diving suit and has been subtly programmed to have a bond with a Little Sister via the use of the game's lifeblood ADAM, hypnotherapy and other tricks. The name 'daddy' comes from the link between a Sister and a Big Daddy, which is meant to mirror that of a father and daughter's relationship. The actual history of the Big Daddies and how they came to be is explored pretty extensively in Bioshock and Bioshock 2 (particularly if you like finding audio logs), but - and let's be honest here - it's a freaking massively ginormous dude wandering around in a diving suit with a massive drill on his arm. If that's not utterly ridiculous, we don't know what is.
