10 Ridiculously Ambitious Video Games That Failed Horribly

10. Beyond: Two Souls

Developers Quantum Dream could never be accused of sticking to what's tried and tested. Known for releasing games that more closely resemble playing through a movie than their more 'gamey' brethren, titles like Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy managed to put Quantum Dream on the map as one of the most exciting game developers out there. When Beyond: Two Souls was announced, it looked to be a fitting love letter to the retiring Playstation 3 console. Unfortunately, Beyond: Two Souls just wasn't as tight or engaging as Heavy Rain, despite fantastic motion capture and performances from Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe. The plot was overly ambitious in its scope, the gameplay restrictive, and the whole game fell victim to Quantum Dream trying to control the player experience too much, rather than letting players experience the story in their own way.
