10 Risky Changes That Would Make Assassin's Creed Great Again

4. The Nemesis System

One of the open-world sandbox features that I really wish would have caught on a little more is the nemesis system from Shadow Of Mordor. It was the perfect system to make your actions hold weight and give the enemy a face, instead of the just being enemy #4057394.

Bringing that into Assassin’s Creed in the form of guards and in combination with the previously described changing world would be a godsend. Guards you mutilated and left for dead would hunt you down and start witch hunts if you killed someone, turning the city against you in a personal vendetta. They would force you to counteract and take them down permanently, as well as watching your back during any number of quests.

I'm not at all saying Assassin's Creed should replicate Shadow of Mordor in full, but having the system in the background, fuelling the main story and giving the guards of the city a little more personality. A lot of games have the problem of their standard enemies being simple cannon fodder, but the nemesis system fixes that and could make a lot of games better, Assassin's Creed included.
