10 Rumours You Need To Hear About Halo 5

With 2014's E3 out of the way, it's time to sink our teeth into the confirmed and not so confirmed details surrounding Xbox Ones biggest title

Halo5halo5 It's no secret that Microsoft's flagship title and powerhouse of power armour, the Halo franchise, is big business with a huge following well before we get any concrete details. Inevitably, with big business comes big rumours, potential leaks and disgruntled former employees ready to spill the beans. Luckily there are plenty soaring around to confuse you and put you off the scent of what is really behind the curtain at 343 Industries, and with 2014s E3 out of the way, it's time to sink our teeth into the confirmed and not so confirmed details surrounding Xbox Ones biggest title, and the extra content we'll be getting in the lead up to the highlight release of Fall 2015, Halo 5: Guardians. Here's the low down on what we know, and what we think we know...

10. The First Xbox One Halo Game, With A Brand New Engine To Boot

A completely fresh start for the first outing on Xbox One, which means we are almost certainly guaranteed brand new mechanics, vehicles and ways to interact with the game world. After learning how to push buttons in Halo 4, admittedly sometimes with a whole fist rather than a single index finger, it seems John-117 is looking to stretch his proverbial field skills into new territories as he takes to the fight in his own way in upcoming Halo 5: Guardians. Bonnie Ross, the general manager of 343 Industries announced on Xbox Wire that "€œHalo 5: Guardians€ is a bigger effort than €œHalo 4.€ That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what€™s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we€™ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One€™s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.". Screen Shot 2014 06 16 At 18 31 22 Now that we know that a brand new engine is being built from the ground up for Xbox One, and that cherry picked features from previous games will mean only the best will be carried over, it seems undeniable that Microsoft and particularly 343 Industries are throwing everything they have at Halo 5: Guardians to ensure that this is the defining moment of the Halo franchise up to this point. Especially as 343 Industries had to pick up the Halo franchise from the extremely capable hands of Bungie and release Halo 4 at the end of the Xbox 360's lifecycle, pushing eight year old tech as far as it could go.
