10 Scariest Horror Video Games You Might Have Missed
2. SCP Containment Breach
SCP is one of the most poop-your-pants-scary games out there and not enough people seem to know about it. It’s an indie PC title, based around an online creepypasta: The SCP Foundation. SCP stands for Secure Contain Protect and alludes to the concealment of mysterious and supernatural objects and entities that could cause harm to the public.
In SCP Containment Breach, we begin locked in a cell. Soon, we're taken by guards and led to a test chamber containing a creepy statue. The lights flicker, and when they come back on, the other prisoners are dead and the statue has moved. From this moment on, it’s a game of survival as we explore the never-ending, ever-shifting halls of the base.
On our adventure, we come across too-many-to-count monsters and threats. We spend a lot of time running around in the dark and finding ourselves ridiculously lost in the identical corridors. The game also uses a blink mechanic which makes things tense when you come across the Weeping Angel style SCP-173. Actually, tense is the biggest understatement ever.
There are too many SCPs to go into detail, but you’ll come across some hair-raising situations and horrifying monsters as you spend hours lost in the labyrinth. It’s an experience that changes with each playthrough and one that you’ll never forget.
