Mantis also boasts one of the scariest personalities of any PlayStation 1 boss. With his psychic powers, he possesses Meryl and forces her to attack Snake and even tries to take control of Snake himself.
The player is forced to switch their controller from slot to slot to avoid this gasmasked ghoul's mind control tactics. Bringing this boss's powers from the screen to the real world was a masterstroke and helped make Psycho Mantis one of the most memorable bosses of all time. The way he hurls furniture at Snake doesn't exactly soften his images either.
