8. Dark Souls - The Painted World Of Ariamis

In true, old-school tradition, the Dark Souls games are filled with expansive secret levels. One of the best is the Painted World of Ariamis, a level that can only be accessed using both an obscure item and unexpected entrance.

To find the Painted World, you'll need to grab a Peculiar Doll. This can be found in the very starting cell you begin the game in, although it can only be found when you revisit the Undead Asylum later in the game. After that, make your way to the Anor Londo church; you'll now be able to enter the giant painting on the wall.

Careful though, because escaping the Painted World is even more difficult than finding it in the first place...
