10 Secret Game Over Screens That Were Absolute Genius

9. Operation Stealth - Santa Paragua Is Very Politically Unstable

Operation Stealth (or James Bond: The Stealth Affair in the US) is a point-and-click adventure game from the early 90s, which is very reminiscent of Monkey Island and other similar LucasArts titles of the era. It was made by Delphine Software, who are somewhat infamous for having ridiculous game overs in their games, and the most ridiculous can be found at the very start.

The secret agent protagonist arrives in the Latin American country of Santa Paragua within the first five minutes. Naturally, you'll need to get out of the airport to receive your instructions, so you make your way to the exit through customs. You show your passport to the official, and prepare to go and find your luggage - only to find out that the official is now holding you hostage at gunpoint, you're about to be taken to a prison camp, and it's game over.

What did you do wrong? Well, nothing really - it's just that the government is offering a bounty for any Americans in the country. And not just Americans - citizens from any country except the one that Santa Paragua is friendly with are up for grabs.

Apparently, kidnapping is a viable occupation over there.

This is probably why secret agents carry fake passports - so you'd better find one quickly if you want to make it past the start.
