Nier: Automata has so many different endings, they needed to be ordered alphabetically! Among them are plenty of secret endings, which might give an average player a headache, as they all require the player to fullfil a whole list of objectives, before they can be reached. That is, all except one...

At any moment of the game, the player can trigger a secret ending called "Ending T: fa[T]al error" by toying with 2B's chips. If for some reason, they choose to remove 2B's OS chip, the character will immediately shortwire and drop dead. The game will then show a glitched and sped up credits roll, indicating that 2B has essentially been robbed of her sentience and died.

The ending is both a funny and clever way of showing the player that their decisions matter.

Of course, it can also be a bit disheartening if you end up accidentally selling or destroying 2B's equivalent of a soul and have to watch your favorite character explode into an empty husk. The good thing is that this ending does not affect your game in any way.
