10 Secret Video Game Endings Unlocked By Dying
8. Netherese Explosion - Baldur's Gate 3
Baldur's Gate 3 is an incredibly long game that can take an average of eighty hours to finish on your first playthrough.
Luckily, if you don't have the time, you can cut this number in half with a secret suicide ending.
The ending involves your party's wizard, Gale, and the Netherse orb stuck in his chest, that is the equivalent of a magical fantasy nuke. In Act 2, Gale's goddess Mystra instructs him to use the orb's power to take out the main baddies, sacrificing himself for a higher case.
It's easy to dismiss Mystra's demand as an instant game over, and while you're not wrong, there is actually a secret ending for turning Gale into a human bomb.
To do this, you have to use the orb in the chamber where you meet all of the Absolute's Chosen for the first time. This will play a special cutscene where Gale channels his power, and before the confused cultists can do anything, a city-sized explosion consumes them all (along with you, of course).
This cutscene counts as an actual ending, complete with a credits roll, so if you don't feel like chasing all the villains in Act 3, taking them with you is the perfect alternative.
