10 Secret Video Game Stories You NEED To Find
8. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Owl's Betrayal
Although Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice diverges slightly from FromSoftware's tried and tested Soulsborne formula, uncovering everything this game has to offer is still just as elusive (and controller-breakingly difficult) as anything else the Japanese team has put out.
The majority of the game's narrative can be seen by working your way through the main plot, but to experience the full story, certain steps have to be taken.
If done correctly, you'll be granted access to a new area where you'll discover a subplot that you'd otherwise miss.
To start on this path, you'll first need to eavesdrop on certain conversations after defeating Owl for the first time. You need to stand in certain places, so it's not obvious that this can be done and is therefore easily missed. But if you manage to meet these conditions, you'll be given a special item used to enter another area and lock swords with Owl again in one of the toughest boss fights of the game.
Establishing that it was in fact Owl who launched the initial attack on Hirata Estate, the catalyst for the game's events, and was the one who betrayed you, this secret narrative adds further intrigue to this already amazing game.
