10 Sega Mega Drive Games You Forgot You Loved

5. Power Rangers: The Movie

Take the best elements of beat-em-up sidescrollers like Streets of Rage, combine together with the Power Rangers movie and you get this epic adventure. Based around the events of the movie - anyone remember Ivan Ooze? - this game is a 2D-esque fighting game where you (and an optional friend) each pick a Power Ranger and fight against the evil Putty Patrol, classic Ranger villains such as Goldar and Lord Zedd and even get inside the Rangers' huge Zord machines to do battle with giant monsters. Although not as good as older fighting games such as Golden Axe or SOR, this one is certainly memorable for fans of Power Rangers (of which there were many back in the day). The game is particularly fun to play with with a friend, as long as you can decide which one of you gets to be the clearly superior White Ranger. Unfortunately the game is incredibly short (you're talking a couple of hours here), but the replayability is still extremely high as each Ranger has their own unique abilities and attacks. Better still, each level even has excellently realised 16 bit style tunes from the TV show, including the legendary theme tune which will blare out in the more epic moments. Everyone back in the day wanted to be a Power Ranger, and this game was the best way to do it.
