10 Severely Underrated RPGs You Need To Check Out

2. Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition

There comes a moment in every gamer's life when we muse about how great it'd be to have a full, wholesome RPG experience that you could play through cooperatively with a friend - making big decisions together, arguing over whether you should kill a defeated enemy or spare him, and getting immersed in a rich, detailed world together.

Divinity: Original Sin offers such a co-operative experience and much, much more. As a pair of source-hunters (you control both of them if you're playing single-player), you explore a beautifully-designed world under threat from mages harnessing the volatile power of "the Source" (who somewhat wittily call themselves 'Sourcerors').

The game has a brilliantly strategic combat system, which is turn-based and encourages you to experiment with various attack combinations and tactics to see which work most effectively. It's not easy, but extremely rewarding when you get to grips with it, and one that will prompt plenty of jubilant fist bumps after battles if you're playing locally with a friend.

Perhaps because of its isometric perspective and esoteric combat system, Divinity hasn't received the attention it's deserved (did you even know it's available for PS4 and Xbox One?), but with the recent release of the Enhanced Edition, now's a better time than ever to take the plunge. PC gamers can buy it at GOG.com.
