10 Simple Facts Most Gamers Don't Know
5. More Than Half The Best-Selling Video Games Of All Time Were Created By Nintendo
The list of the 50 best-selling video games of all time is a glorious collage of genres and platforms, from the harmless fun of Minecraft to the ultra-violent insanity of Rockstar's games, and the addictive competitiveness of FIFA.
But impressively, 26 of the 50 best-selling games were published by Nintendo, including the likes of Mario, Tetris, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda, Wii Sports, and so on.
Conversely, Sony Computer Entertainment has just two games in the top 50 at present - The Last of Us and Insomniac's Spider-Man - while Microsoft/Xbox Game Studios has only one, Kinect Adventures!.
Even though several of the Nintendo-published games on this list were admittedly console pack-ins, it's still a testament to their near-universal appeal across demographics.
Though they've certainly had their failures over the years, Nintendo also possesses the special sauce that their direct competition just doesn't where exclusives are concerned.
