5. Call Of Duty: Ghosts Prestige Edition

One could argue that it was the Call Of Duty franchise which kickstarted this move to load special editions with properly over-the-top headline items, or at least made it regular practise. The industry threw a little tantrum of excitement when it was revealed that the Prestige edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would come with a pair of working nightvision goggles. Mind = Blown. In truth, once the dust had settled, the bundled goggles weren't very well made and only proved useful for the smallest possible midnight snack infiltrations. Still, it was the start of a new trend, with Activision competing with themselves to up the ante time after time, culminating in 2013's Call Of Duty: Ghosts and it's 1080P HD camera-toting Prestige Edition. It's become the Call Of Duty way of handling collector's editions: leave the flimsy curious and throwaway knick-knacks for the most part, and focus instead on getting one ultra-desirable headline item in there. Last year's package highlight - a stealthy 1080P HD tactical camera - wasn't only well suited to the nature of Ghosts, but it was right on the money in terms of timeous pop appeal. Everyone seems to be gagging for a GoPro action camera these days, and with the Ghosts Prestige Edition even us stereotypically couch-bound gamers had an excuse to strap on of these cameras to ourselves and fall off a skateboard of plummet down the side of a mountain on a bicycle. The camera's build quality wasn't going to have GoPro panicking, but it was quite a robust piece of equipment. Water and shock resistant with three mounting options and even the thoughtful inclusion of a 4GB memory card, this was a "gimmick" with substance. Beyond that, there wasn't too much to shout about, although the inclusion of a Ghosts-branded paracord strap at least gave us a trinket we could wear out of the house to remind everyone of our Call Of Duty allegiance.
