Predominantly having been available as a mini-game within larger video game collections, gymnastics aren't something that we've seen an awful lot of in gaming. It may not be the kind of brash or fast-paced activity to entice boisterous FPS shooters, but there is potential for it to capture a subtler shade of gamer.

In games like the Olympic collections, gymnastic challenges have mostly boiled down to simple hold-and-release mechanics. You press a button on time and hold it for a while and the game does the rest of the work for you. There's virtually nothing to replicate the difficult manoeuvres that professional gymnasts dedicate their time to perfecting.

With such a variety of disciplines available, mastering technical control methods and sensitive combinations would offer a very unique video game proposition in a sea of hack 'n' slash RPGs and flashy FPS games. It would also do a great justice to a sporting activity so deserving of having its complex beauty realised.
