10 Steam Machine Games That'll Make PS4 & Xbox One Owners Jealous

2. Pillars Of Eternity

Another testament to the old-school RPG revival, Pillars of Eternity is not only a fantastic homage to the Baldur's Gate series, but an incredibly rewarding and deep RPG unto itself. Developed by Obsidian (Fallout: New Vegas), Pillars of Eternity follows similar AD&D combat rules to the great RPGs of the 90s, and has a classic isometric perspective filled with beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds. It's a nostalgic game in many ways, but also builds on the old-school RPG formula, giving it n unprecedented level of polish with high-res textures and a nice, clean interface. The story is fantastic, putting you in the role of 'The Watcher', a person who is able to read peoples' souls and enter memories of their past lives. This gift, however, is slowly deteriorating your sanity, so the main quest sees you trying to rid yourself of it. As you'd expect from such a game, you travel around with a party of characters you meet on your travels, carrying out side-quests and battling all manner of fantasy beasts. Being of the old-school variety, Pillars of Eternity is a tough, tactical RPG that requires plenty of pausing and planning each time you head into battle. It's the kind of game that until now has been reserved almost exclusively for the PC crowd, but Steam Machine owners will be able to enjoy it from the comfort of their living rooms.
