1. They Are Pointless Wastes of Time
This is the ultimate accusation that has been thrown at video games since their creation. No doubt that if you were a child growing up in the 80s and 90s, your parents would look at you playing video games and accuse you of wasting time and effort on something that doesnt deserve it. The industry may have advanced substantially since then, but the accusation remains the same. Video games are a waste of time, so they say, and any time spent on them is time that could be spent on something more obviously productive. The truth is that video games can be a waste of time, as can anything else if too much time is spent on it and nothing else. They can also be a source of passion and creativity. They have the potential to inspire others to make their own game, write their own stories, or just be creative in general. Like with everything else in this world, video games can be a source of productivity or lethargy, it just depends on how you approach it. To label an entire medium as being valueless is ignorant and close-minded. Simply put, if you are passionate about something, even video games, it is not a waste of time.
