10 Terrible Video Games With Incredible Endings
2. Bubsy 3D (1996)
Bubsy 3D was the fourth entry in the series and the first to make the leap into the world of 3D but sadly was doomed from the start. Released in 1996 alongside Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario 64, it was undoubtedly the ugly triplet as 3D exploration became the hot new thing for the industry. The game's visuals, gameplay, controls, and overall character were all almost universally panned, and retrospective looks at this infamous title have only brought more scathing reviews over the years.
But, one possibly redeeming aspect of this disasterclass of a release is the game's appeal to a younger demographic of players. The bright visuals, annoying voice acting, and simple gameplay all do their job, with the simple storyline of Bubsy attempting to get off the planet Rayone being easy to grasp.
The game's ending, however, holds back one last punch for players.
There are two different endings players can get at the end of Bubsy 3D, depending on their progress during the game. If Bubsy collects fewer than 32 rocket parts, his rocket ship will fail and leave him stranded in space. If he collects more than 32, his ship will rip through the space-time continuum, leaving him stranded in the Stone Age, with the Woolies invading Earth either way.
Either of those are the best places for him, if you ask us.
