Feeling bad about taking down a video game boss is one thing, but Shadow of the Colossus goes one step further in this list by genuinely making its players think that they're in fact the ones in the wrong by the time the game comes to an end.

From the PS2 release to 2018's PS4 remastering, each and every colossus the player hunts down is presented as being like a gentle, giant part of the Earth, simply fitting in the various stretches of wastelands and mingling in with the local wildlife.

Players will literally have to hunt these beasts, work out their intricate weaknesses and do everything in their power to bring them down.

Whilst main character Wander has the perfect motive for tracking down these creatures in attempting to resurrect Mono, players might just begin to struggle to understand why these colossal creatures need to be the ones to pay the price.

The game remains an absolute classic, easily one of the best games of all time, with its stunning design, expansive world, gorgeous visuals and smooth gameplay, however most players still struggle to get past how brutal it is bringing down so many beautiful creatures like this.

Horror fan, gamer, all round subpar content creator. Strongly believes that Toad is the real hero of the Mario universe, and that we've probably had enough Batman origin stories.
