10 Things NOBODY Wants To Admit About Battle Royale
7. They're Padded With Gimmicks
Every couple of months, Fortnite throws out a new gimmick which splits the player base directly in half - only for them to promptly forget about it a few weeks later (until the next gimmick is announced and it all happens again).
The problem here being that these gimmicks are the only ways that the game can continue to work without feeling stale. Every so often, Epic Games throws in something like a crossover event and suddenly the big purple lunatic Thanos himself is playable. Or the Infinity Sword is released.
This isn't completely exclusive to Fortnite either, Black Ops 4's Blackout recently released a Heist mode where players hop in a criminal vehicle, or a police car, and chase each other down with the promise of even more loot.
Dependent on which way you spin it, this can be seen as pure fun, or desperate attempts to make their game seem relevant in such an oversaturated market.
