10 Things NOBODY Wants To Admit About Battle Royale
6. It Doesn't Know Where It Stands
In the world of video games there is a clear divide down the centre of every community and that is casual vs. pro, or in other words fun vs. rage induced self hate.
As it stands currently games like Apex, Fortnite, and even Blackout all exist solely within the realms of the casual game with only brief forays into the world of e-sports. They are played for enjoyment and that's what the developers focus on first and foremost, but the genre itself is ripe for the e-sports crowd.
Apex most recently has made its claim for the crown of the Battle Royale genre and is gearing up to be the first on the pro scene, everything from its mandatory 3 person squad limit to the intricate hero combinations people are dreaming up practically screams e-sports.
However, the genre's refusal to conform to a specific side means that it is just that much more accessible. Just look at one of the biggest e-sport genres on the planet: MOBAs (Massive Online Battle Arenas). The only thing that could make Fortnite more salty is the attitude of a League of Legends player.
